The benefits versus consequences of exercise videos is an interesting topic. Exercise videos have been around for a while. For some, exercise videos are convenient, a lower cost alternative to getting fit, and a way for the shy ones to start a lifestyle change. But others feel that doing it alone at home with no one to keep the momentum going is easier said than done.
Remember the Jane Fonda exercise video craze? Or how about Suzanne Somers? And who can forget Richard Simmons?
Nowadays, there’s belly dancing, pilates, yoga, tae bo the list goes on. No doubt exercise videos have made their mark on us that’s why they are still around.
It is more motivating to exercise when there aren’t any obstacles to discourage us. That’s why exercise videos are better because they are very accessible. No technological issues to deal with. Just pop in and play the video anytime you’re ready.
Videos are inexpensive. A one-time cost gives you a lifetime of workouts and if we don’t feel like it, we’re not pressured to train because our membership is almost up or the gym will be closing in an hour. And there are no monthly fees or hidden costs of gas, parking, and travel time.
Then there are those who are still trying to get used to the routine of a workout. For many, the exercise movements may be awkward especially for those who are overweight. Some can’t get into the positions, while others can’t last the number of sets required. Others are self-conscious and embarrassed to show up in their camouflage workout clothes as compared to the regular lulu lemon gym rats.
Exercise videos have the benefit of being very visual with simple instructions. Therefore, it is easy to imitate the movements demonstrated. There is little to no confusion of how they should be done. This is not the case with e-books. Words can easily confuse especially when typos occur.
And so, the pros and cons of exercise videos have been laid out. We love their no-trouble, low maintenance quality, low cost and privacy options, but we do have to consider the lack of social interaction aspect of it. We need to evaluate our preferences in order to make the perfect choice for our lifestyle.

The power of the mind can get you flat abs by helping you direct your attention to hitting a higher intensity with your workouts. This mind power will allow you to keep working out even when your body cries ’stop!’. It will encourage you to go on choosing healthier food alternatives despite temptations. Mind power can help you sculpt your abs.
There is no going around it. You have to plan healthy living into your day. It takes time and a lot of discipline for it to seep in, but when it does, it will be difficult to live without it. In fact, you will actively choose healthy living because it gives you a natural, daily high that makes you feel like you can tackle anything.
The mind processes what the eyes see so it is important to see your objectives everyday so that your mind can steel your body to go beyond its limits to achieve what you desire for it. Your body will thank you with a great physique when you give importance to your physical condition. Prioritize your health by marking wellness strategies into your calendar.
Next, prepare a smart program of exercises you’ll be doing and proper nutrition plans. Exercise must include full body movements to work the body’s largest muscles, as they tend to burn more fat because more calories are needed to let these muscles function. Some examples include brisk walking, lunges, jogging, biking, push-ups and chin-ups.
Then with these full body workouts, push your body even more by grouping a series of 3-4 exercises and do the series without resting in between each exercise. You can rest in between each series, but you need to do around 4-5 series in a row for them to really push your body to achieve top results.
With the workouts taken care of, you need to give your attention to meal options and planning. The best food for your body needs some preparation as an indication of its freshness. Instead of thinking of this as a chore, try to remember that less preparation means less freshness and more preservatives. Fast food is convenient but loaded with fat and chemicals that preserve them. Choose leans and greens instead and finish off with fun fruit options.
Enlist the help of family and friends in your quest for flat abs. They know how to keep you going when you don’t feel like it anymore. They can fuel your mind power to stay strong and alert to distractions.
You shouldn’t expect anything less than reaching for the sky when it comes to getting flat abs. Go at it from all directions. Excellence and success in any endeavor is preceded by lofty dreams that are turned to reality by hard work and perseverance. It all starts with making time for that dream in your life, so go ahead, reach for the sky, get those flat abstoday.

Circuit training is a key factor in getting in shape fast.
Circuit training is an intensive form of fitness training that combines cardio and strength training in which a set of exercises is completed one right after the other. Each exercise is performed for a specified number of repetitions or a prescribed period of time before you move on to the next exercise. Pace and constant motion are what make this such a different workout routine.
Most athletes and fitness buffs, find circuit training is a great way to give yourself a total body workout (both aerobic and strength training) in a short time period. Most of the time when you see the dramatic physical condition of your favorite actor or sports person..those results are a product of good diet and circuit training.
Most people feel that if they don’t spend at least an hour working out at the gym that they won’t see results.Nothing could be farther from the truth. Intense short circuit training workouts can give you an even better session than you might get from from a slow workout for an hour and a half at the gym. In most cases when you get it set in your mind that you only have a short period of time…you actually push yourself more to get your exercise in…this increases the cardio effect of your training.
For a circuit training workout you do your exercises quickly and you don’t rest a lot (if at all) between sets of exercises.Circuit training is a workout that puts together lifting weights and aerobics. The combination of constant movement and varied exercises forces the body to adapt by burning more calories and increasing the muscle endurance.
Circuit training can be really tough but is also very effective. Some people avoid circuit training because it is such a challenge. Others love circuit training because even though it can push you really hard – it is much shorter than a traditional workout and many feel that they can do anything for a short period of time especially when they see the results of this type of workout. Circuit training has been found to burn fat faster and build shapely muscle more quickly than almost any other type of workout for the amount of time invested.
To engage in a circuit training workout that will really get you results, you want to start with a three to five minute warm up and then do five minutes of cardio that builds in intensity – this gets your heart and body ready for the circuit. A sample circuit training workout could have two to three complete circuits with each circuit containing six strength training exercises and six cardio exercises that are completed one right after the other with little or no rest in between. You could complete a workout like this in as little as twenty to thirty minutes while burning hundreds of calories.
Circuit training is a GREAT option for getting a total body workout if you are short on time. You just can’t beat circuit training for an intense workout! Plus the options of the different types of routines are up to you.

The best ab workout is a full body workout. We are always exposed to media ads of ab exercises and machines that promise great looking abs by training the abs directly. The fact of the matter is, the best ab workout is a full body workout that emphasizes increasing the body’s metabolism, by training with weights, interval training, monitoring what we eat, and managing our stress.
On the spot reduction does not work. Doing ab exercises will help strengthen our abs and help our hips and back get stronger. To get ripped abs, we must do a full body workout to burn fat. When the overall body is able to burn fat, the abs underneath the stomach fat will become visible and give you the ripped abs.
Using resistance training to train many body segments at once will help to increase the body’s metabolic activity. The resulting lean body mass causes the body to utilize and burn excess body fat to fuel the increased muscle activity.
Training with intervals also helps the body increase its metabolism. By adapting to the high intensity sets of the activity, the body must increase its metabolic activity. The increased metabolic activity causes the body to seek out and convert excess fat from the body into a consumable fuel. The increased metabolic activity has been shown to continue its fat burning well after the exercise session has ended.
Watching our diet is another effective way to help our metabolism. By eating quality food made of lean protein and complex carbohydrates, we can effectively provide our body with the calories to fuel our physical activity. Avoiding sugar, sodas and fatty foods will help us control our caloric intake and keep from taking in too many calories. When we take in too many calories, our body will convert the excess calories into fat.
Another way to keep our energy level constant throughout the day is to increase the number of meals we eat to 5-6 small-portioned meals. In doing so, we stabilize our blood sugar level and be better able to fuel our physical activity.
Decreasing the stress in our lives is an effective way to prevent further fat storage in our belly area. When we experience stress, our body releases Cortisol, a hormone that causes fat to be stored in the abdominal area. This fat is stored there to be used during a time of emergency.
By training several body parts at once, we are better able to achieve results in our abs. Making changes in how we train using resistance and interval training exercises, controlling what we eat and decreasing our stress levels will get us the fastest and best results for a flat toned stomach

Efficient food production in the world’s top economies has caused a glut of quick, irresistible food that’s more often than not cheap and loaded with calories. Fast food tends to be unbalanced and is deficient in fiber and other nutrients found in fruits and vegetables. It’s not surprising then that a high percentage of the populations in the Western countries are living on an unhealthy diet and suffering from obesity.
The only thing that can counter the nutritional quagmire that we’re in is constant exercise. Sadly, a lot of people find it a challenge to stick to a regular exercise program and thus are suffering from all sorts of health problems from diabetes to high blood pressure and heart disease.
Of the noble members of society that picked-up their arms to join the war against excess fat and high blood pressure, only a few emerge victorious. This can be attributed lack of motivation brought about by improper exercise and thus, slow results.
The number one reason people decide to work-out regularly is to lose body fat and get a toned and well-defined midsection. When they don’t see good enough results after a month or so, exercise sessions become dull and tedious.
To speed-up the effects of working-out and see something come out of your fat-loss efforts in a shorter amount of time, modified exercises that isolate the core muscles should be done. A program that develops core strength together with body-fat busting cardio exercises is the key to fast abs and a lean physique.
The core or center of the body is our midsection and these are made-up of the upper and lower abdominals, the obliques and the muscles of the lower back. A lot of people only focus on conventional ab isolation exercises like sit-ups and crunches and neglect the lower back region. This causes an imbalance of core muscle strength and can result in back pain.
A faster abs workout that can give you a stronger core in less time can be attained through the use of tools like a Swiss ball or a Bosu ball. Both of these have round surfaces which when used as support for the body when executing abdominal or other resistance exercises will force the core muscles to work harder. The effort of trying to keep steady while working out on an unstable surface means more calories burned and improved core strength faster.
Another advantage to doing core exercises on a curved or round platform is a higher amount of calories burned. It’s been proven in a study using electromyography that more muscle fibers are active when doing crunches and similar exercises on a round surface. More muscle effort spells more calories used-up and more belly fat burned.

A lot of people are still unaware of the usefulness of Pilates for losing weight and getting lean. More than a few novice gym goers stop working-out because they find their programs too dull and tiring. You can get flat abs in 1 month. All you have to do is train with weights on a regular schedule of exercise to increase your body’s metabolism and combine that with a healthy eating diet. Get great abs and fast results!
In a few weeks, you can have the results that you want. Plan to exercise with greater frequency, at least 3-4 times during the week. Change your training program to include weight training. The increased weight exercises force the body to really increase its intensity and work harder. As a result, the body expends more calories during the exercise session.
Start by doing resistance training that will use more body parts and muscle groups per movement. Also, increase the resistance and lower the repetitions. Try to do the exercises with minimal rest in between sets. This results in increased work output by the body.
With increased muscle activity, the body is forced to search for different sources of energy. When the food that you eat is used up, the body will then convert excess body fat into a usable energy. After the workout is done, the body will then continue its activity of repairing and replenishing the muscles, which will consume even more energy and result in more fat burning.
The greater number of workouts during the week allows the body to become very efficient at burning calories and burning the excess fat on the body. The result being the body will end up burning fat for most of the day as it prepares for the next exercise session.
Eating a proper diet and eliminating fatty foods, carbonated beverages and sugary deserts, will make all the difference in preventing more fat from being stored on the body. You will be better able to control your calories and allow your body to burn fat better.
Consuming 5-6 meals during the day, will help you maintain your energy levels and keep from consuming more calories than you need. When you eat more calories than you can consume, your body will store that as fat.

Since fat-loss and a lean, well-defined abdomen is the goal of most fitness buffs across the globe, more folks should be doing exercises that maximize movement of the midsection. How to lose belly fat the right way is the question we all want to know. With the many ab machines, diets, and ab exercises, it can sometimes get overwhelming as to the right way to lose belly fat. An overall system of exercising with interval training, healthy eating habits, and reducing stress is the right way to getting a flat belly.
Training with interval sets is a good way to increase our body’s metabolism. The quick intense sets cause the muscles to lack oxygen and produce lactic acid and accumulate carbon dioxide. As a result, these waste products need to be removed from the muscle, so it will be ready for further activity.
This process causes an increase in metabolic activity, which burns more calories; as a result the body will require more energy to expend and will convert excess body fat on our belly to provide the necessary energy to our muscles. The muscles carry on this metabolic activity for several hours even after the exercise session is over.
Healthy eating habits are an additional way we can lose our belly fat. By eating a diet balanced in protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and fat, and avoiding sugary snacks, fat, fast foods and sodas, we are better able to control our intake and not consume too many calories. If too many calories are consumed and we are unable to expend them, they will be converted to fat and stored.
Eating 5-6 meals throughout the day will help us will help us provide energy for our daily activities as well as optimize our workouts to further burn calories and excess belly fat. Eating with greater frequency will enable us to maintain our energy as well as help stabilize our blood sugar.
Stress plays an important role in how our body stores fat. When our body experiences stress, it releases a hormone called Cortisol, which begins to store fat in our belly. The fat is stored in the belly to be used in case of emergency.
Activities such as relaxation, deep breathing, tai chi, yoga and mediation have all shown to be effective in helping our body get rid of stress and better manage how we handle it.

As people in developing countries become more affluent and westernized, they get more access to the same products and services long-enjoyed by folks in North America and Western Europe. Fast food is the most obvious cultural import from the West and its proliferation is causing obesity in more countries across the globe.
Contrary to what most fitness amateurs think, doing sit-ups and crunches are not the solution to isolating belly fat. The human body is predisposed to store most body fat around the midsection and as such, this is the last place it’ll leave when exercise for weight-loss.
Leg-raises, sit-ups and crunches do develop and harden the muscles of the midsection, but they don’t do really isolate the subcutaneous layer of fat hiding that six pack from full-view. The only way to get flat toned abs is through exercises that burn all-around body fat in the shortest amount of time.
Total-body aerobic workouts are the most effective way to burn enough calories from body fat in the shortest time. Only by doing whole-body movement during our workouts can we hope to burn a significant amount of body fat and flatten an oversized abdomen and love-handles.
The benefits of doing cardiovascular exercises are several. Aside from burning fat fast, the heart and lungs are also strengthened- improving endurance and lowering high blood pressure. Intense aerobic exercise also puts the body’s metabolic rate in high gear- meaning you still burn calories hours after you’ve finished exercising.
The human body’s ability to prevent fat-gain is improved significantly when our metabolism goes up. The higher our metabolism is, the more calories we can burn even while away from the gym. Everyone knows that weight-loss results from burning more calories than we consume from food each day.
Another way to increase the body’s metabolic rate and get rid of surplus calories easier is by building muscle. Resistance training through free weights or other forms of resistance can help prevent fat gain because the more muscles we have, the more calories we can burn. Experts have discovered that muscle tissue eats up calories even while inactive. The more calories we burn while away from the gym means the less effort we have to make during our workouts.
Whole body cardio exercises, aside from being highly effective in burning massive amounts of calories per session, are also more fun to do. The more a person has fun and looks forward to his workout sessions, the less likely he or she would be prone to get lazy and stop working out. Just as with any other endeavor, consistent exercise is the key to losing fat and getting toned abs with good definition.
