Fit And Healthy-How You Want To Losing Weight Easily

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009
by Wan Mohd Hirwani Wan Hussain

There are a number of people who are so desperate to shed few pounds quickly that they resort to unhealthy methods like starvation because they know it works but this not a healthy approach to weight loss and should be avoided at all costs. These people may even convince themselves that it is a healthy way to lose weight but this could not be further from the truth because if we are deficient in certain nutrients we receive from food then we become prone to sickness and disease.

Following a healthy weight loss program is all about what you eat and how much of it as if you consume more calories in a day than you use and this is done regularly, you will put on weight. You must never underestimate the importance of sleep to stay healthy in the same way that we all need daily exercise.

Surprisingly, many women’s periodicals sell on their diet sections which quite often promote the latest healthy weight loss program which just happens to feature eating one type of food, claiming this will do the dieter no harm. A particular ‘restrictive’ healthy diet that was favored for a while was the chicken, boiled vegetables, fruit and salad one that did not by any means supply all the daily nutrients our bodies need even though all of the foods were actually healthy.

Of course if you were to follow such a diet for any length of time you would not want to eat chicken again as it becomes boring and then you will rebel against a healthy food. The basis of healthy weight loss and maintenance is by removing high calorie foodstuffs from our diets and maintaining regular exercise in addition to good sleep patterns.

Eating during the night when they should be asleep is actually quite common for overweight people and a doctor can tell a great deal about a person who does not sleep well. Eating during the night is a sure way to put on extra pounds as if you are following a healthy weight loss diet and exercising, excess calories will be burnt off and this is a good way to eliminate stress also.

The result will be not only weight loss, but better sleep quality and improved general health condition. You must also keep a positive attitude to what you are doing by not being to critical of your progress as this can have a damaging effect on your self confidence and weight loss. Often boredom creates problems when dieting especially when someone tries to push themselves too far because they want to lose weight and keep to the same routine. Going to the gym is a good idea and can provide incentive when others around you exercise but it is easy to try to hard so why not try some swimming first which will help your fitness levels before you start at the gym. Remember to listen to your body and not overexert yourself and lose weight healthily.

Change starts from ourselves

Many people also forget that important changes come from within. This means starting off with a clear mind, so that you not only know what the end of the journey looks like, but are able to plan a route more effectively. This means a route with a reduced risk of encountering hardships along the way.

Think of it this way, if you got onto a plane in New York and were flying to Great Britain wouldn’t you want that the pilot to have a flight plan (map) and a clearly planned digital route (another map) before they took the plane thousands of feet into the air?

When desiring to make definitive changes in your life, you’ll discover that traditional ways of setting goals are just not sufficient. Think back to the times you may have sat down with a pen and paper, or sat in front of your computer, and typed up a list of objetives which you felt were important at that particular time in your life.

This process may have taken you a while as you mulled over what you actually wanted to do you may even have put your proyects in order of priority. You might have deliberated for some time over how you could achieve your goals, but then when you had finished making your list and re-read it once, you just it filed away out of sight away from possible future reference? Why hide the future from yourself?

In a lecture I had, a professor once said that one of the greatest problems people had in completing projects was getting ready to get ready. At some point, you make a plan and then you act on it. Its not the plan that’s the problem, the problem is in the plans execution.

If you are completely honest with yourself, how many times did your list get used for reference purposes? How many times did it even see the light of day?

How long after you got knocked about, when something bad happened, and then forgot all about what you really wanted out of life?

Even more importantly, did you deliberately focus on each goal until you could almost see it, touch it and sense it? Probably not.

Most of us have great intentions to better ourselves. We all wish to self-motivate, improve our self-discipline, and have a stronger sense of purpose.

We would all like to increase that vital sense of drive and passion for life. That would make it so much easiid ier for us to achieve our aims, and the simple reality is that we can!

Recovering From Lap Band Surgery

Saturday, June 27th, 2009
by Amy Nutt

For those who have a persistent weight problem that hasn`t been responsive to diet or exercise, lap band surgery is a good option to lose that extra weight quickly. It is, however, an invasive surgery, so some recovery time is to be expected.

How Long Will Your Recovery Take? Everyone wants to know how long they should plan for recovery from this type of surgery. Each person is different, but in general, you can expect to be out of commission for four to eight days.

Some people find that they recover in record time, but others will need a full two weeks to recover. You can use past experience as a guide. Have you required longer recovery times for previous surgeries or hospital stays, such as giving birth? If so, then plan for a longer period of time to be sure that you won`t be forced to go back to work while still feeling off.

The Importance of Time Off Technically, you could probably be back at work the day after surgery, but this is a bad idea for a number of reasons. First of all, even if you feel pretty good, your incision needs to heal. Having surgery of any kind is traumatic for the body, and it is important to recognize this and take it easy for a bit to allow yourself to recuperate.

Another consideration is your energy level. After the procedure, you`ll be limited to clear liquids for at least a couple of days, which is great for your body, but can make you feel pretty weak. Even if you`re not in pain, you will likely find that you are too weak to work or do much during those first few days.

If you do start doing too much too soon, you`ll quickly find out. Pain at the incision site and generally not feeling good are signs that you should probably just sit down and rest. While an exercise routine is very important to the success of the lap band surgery and will help you lose weight faster, you should not start hiking right after the surgery; you`ll need to wait at least a couple of weeks before engaging in any real exercise. Talk to your doctor about a good time to start.

Tips for Faster Recovery If you want your recovery to go as quickly as possible, follow these suggestions: – Stick to the doctor`s rules. Don`t cheat while you`re supposed to be on clear liquids or you could have complications. – Make sure that any issues are checked immediately. While complications are rare, they do happen, but they can be treated immediately. – Don`t drive. This can put strain on your body and for the first few days, at least, so it`s not a good idea. Taking care of yourself is important. After all, you had the surgery to become healthier, so take the extra time to recuperate and make sure you start your new health regimen on the right foot. A couple of weeks off from work won`t make a big difference in the long run, but for your body it will be well worth it!

How To Use Dietary Supplements Effectively

Monday, June 8th, 2009
by Julie Poundsign

A good looking body is something that we all want, even if we wont admit it, but for those of us who are overweight or even underweight, it can be a challenge to even get started. Regular gym visits make very slow progress and when its hard to keep doing something that requires effort when you dont even see results.

People that feel they are too thin can have a frustrating time at the gym as everyone there seems to be bigger and you seem to be making no progress at all.

Overweight people have an even more of an ordeal to go through at the gym as it is far more difficult to lose weight than it is to gain weight, but surely there is a way to speed the process along?

Things like dieting supplements and protein shakes are things that we have all heard of, but probably dont know much about. A lot of people question whether they work or not, whether they will have side effects etc. and rightly so. The answer is; if theyre used properly, then they can work wonders for your body, but otherwise, the chances are they will not do much.

For the underweight people who are looking to gain some muscle, carbohydrates and whey protein supplements would be perfect. They will naturally help your muscles grow at a faster rate as long as you keep working out as well!

This will start to make a highly noticeable difference if you are drinking protein shakes as instructed by the particular brand you use. This is because the Whey protein that they usually contain (from experience Whey tends to be more effective than Creatine) can easily be turned into muscle by your body. However it will need an incentive to do so, i.e. regular pumping of the muscles so that they need to be repaired.

Unfortunately there is quite a bit more effort involved if you are overweight. The reason for this is that you cant turn fat cells straight into muscle, you have to burn the fat cells off first, then build muscle in its place. A supplement containing Sida Cordifolia would be ideal for this as it improves your metabolic rate, increasing the energy you used when doing anything, meaning fat cells burn off much quicker.

If you take this step to lose weight followed by the previously mentioned muscle gain steps, then realistically youre probably looking at around 8-10 months before your body starts taking shape, but if throughout this period you are active, with regular workouts and exercise, you could not only shorten that time frame, but you will end up fitter, healthier and generally felling better than you have in a long time.

Why a diet fails: 10 reasons

Monday, April 27th, 2009
by Joshua Seth

How many times have you tried a new diet program hoping to lose weight fast only to end up in frustration and failure? Did you know that over 90% of people actually gain weight within 6 months of dieting! Here are the top 10 reasons why:

1. Diets focus all your attention on food and eating, which is what you actually want to minimize in your mind. What you focus on expands so focusing on food is counterproductive when you want to lose weight.

2. Diets create stress and stress creates a compulsion to eat.

3. Diets fail to address the real problems: your self-esteem and your reliance on food to control your emotions.

4. Dieting can result in mood swings and depression which make it harder to lose weight. Depression actually leads to weight gain.

5. Diets put you in starvation mode. When you severely restrict your food intake it signals your body that food is scarce. So Your body protects itself against the possibility starvation by storing fat when whenever food becomes unavailable.

6. Diets lower your metabolism. When you suddenly limit your caloric intake, your metabolism slows down and burns less calories. Dieting actually makes your body efficient at conserving calories and storing them up as fat .

7. Diets judge their success by the number of pounds lost instead by the true objectives: increased energy, feeling good about yourself, and looking good in your clothes again.

8. Diets are temporary. When you reach your goal on a diet you stop and then return your your normal eating habits so the weight eventually comes back.

9. Diet sodas increase your appetite. They contain phosphoric acid which increase your appetite and leaches calcium from your bones. They may also contain aspartame which drains your energy, your strength, and your stamina.

10. Diets change your short term eating habits without changing your long term mindset about food. Your thoughts create your actions, so if you still have the same thoughts and feelings about food eventually you will return to the same eating behaviors. To create long term, permanent changes in your body you must first start with changes in your thinking.

Weight Loss – It Should Be Easier!

Sunday, April 12th, 2009
by David Snape

Have you found yourself wondering if there is a simpler way to lose weight? If you take a look at what’s available out there, everything seems so complicated.

People have written entire books on weight loss. There are complicated diet plans and pills that you can purchase. Worst of all, there are plenty of ‘clubs’ you can join where you pay an expensive membership to have a ‘personal’ coach who weighs you frequently and tells you that you are not doing very well.

I think that it is kind of repulsive when I consider all of the weight loss schemes designed to take our money but not provide lasting results. Before you purchase any type of weight loss guide, pill or complicated diet scheme consider whether it is really the best option for you.

Any book or information source that claims to teach you about weight loss should be able to do the following:

1. Tell you in less than 15 pages everything you need to know about losing weight.

2. In that fifteen pages or less, it should explain everything to you in a very simple and straight forward manner.

3. There should be no need to buy a product over and over again. This is what they call a ‘continuity’ program in marketing jargon. It’s great for enriching the product owner but if there was a magic pill that worked – everyone would know about it.

4. Your weight loss information source should be simple, simple and simple! It should be so easy that a sixth-grader could read it and follow the simple directions.

The sad fact is that perhaps one percent of one percent of all of the weight loss ‘help’ out there actually meets the above four criteria. Look for one that does. At the bottom of this article, in the author information box, you will find links that can lead you to something that will greatly improve the quality your achieving the goal of weight loss.

European Fitness and Well Being

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
by Joshua Seth

What we see everyday we this is normal. Take on a new perspective and all that changes. This is why travel used to be considered an essential part of education.

I have been performing my hypnosis show on a cruise ship in Europe this past week. It has been awesome (honestly, I can hardly believe I get paid to do this stuff!). Ive seen many wonders of the ancient world (the Colosseum in Rome, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, the ruins of Pompeii). And everywhere I go there is sumptuous local food to sample (gelato in Monaco, grilled octopus in Greece, Pizza in Naples). And everything tastes different than it does in America.

And, the familiar foods even taste different. Pizza tastes different, The crusts are thinner and the sauces less sweet. There are no fast food restaurants that I have seen. Instead they have little shops open to the street that have freshly prepared sandwiches and baguettes behind glass. Not burgers and fries. In general, the foods are served in smaller portions, are less sugary, and are more commonly made from locally grown ingredients. They are NOT of full of additives and preservatives and chemicals. They are simple, fresh, and local. I am sure that its no small coincidence that I have seen very few overweight Europeans in these areas.

Undoubtably, the fact that they get outside and walk more has something to do with this as well. You dont see everyone staring at TVs or laptop screens or plugged into cell phones and iPods. They are actually walking around and talking with one another. But I digress.

In many places worldwide they have a leaner, fitter population than the United States. I notice this every time Im in Australia and New Zealand too. I think were slowly killing ourselves in the States with the foods we eat and the lifestyles we lead. Personally Id rather pay a bit more for my food and only eat fresh food than consume all the chemicals that most of our prepackaged foods now contain.

One hundred twenty million Americans are now considered obese (according to the governments own statistics). Thats a third of our population. Many of these people will develop other disease as a result of this condition, like diabetes, heart disease, and certain kinds of cancer. This is not the case in Europe and most of the rest of the world. Were doing this to ourselves. Its time to stop this madness and do something about it.

* Dont eat something just because its cheap or its fast or its convenient.

* Dont eat it just because its on your plate and you feel compelled to finish it.

* Eat only because your body needs it to replenish itself and restore its energy.

* Learn to reconnect your mind with your body.

* Feel what its like to feel really satisfied after a meal instead of stuffed full.

* Know what a real tomato tastes like.

* Once again retake control of your life.

Look around you, what you see isnt normal, its the sad result of the disconnection of our minds from our bodies and our bodies from the land on which we live. Weve been trained to think that following diets and counting calories are the roadmaps to fitness and good health. Its much simpler than that.

Visit the Greek Isles or Cote dAzur in France and youll see that you can be absolutely perfectly satisfied with a freshly baked baguette, some olive oil, herbs, and tomatoes picked from from the garden out back, with perhaps a a small bit of protein and a single glass of red wine. Consume slowly with a beautiful companion and enjoy while overlooking the sea on a sun drenched afternoon.

Free from rules. Just living life exactly as it was meant to be lived. Simple, satisfying, and free.
