Many folks want to drop weight these days. Obesity and being overweight has reached widespread proportions. There are many visual reasons why folks want to lose weight as they would like to look good and fit into their jeans but the most critical basis to lose weight is for health reasons.
Dissimilar bodies store up fat in a different way. A person who stores all of the surplus fat in their thighs and butt has distinct problems than a person who stores all of their surplus fat in the center or the abdominal section. When you carry your fat in your thighs and butt you are shaped like a pear and when you carry your excess fat in your abdominal region you are shaped like an apple. The way that you carry your fat has a great effect on your health.
The pear-shaped women, who hold all of their excess weight in their butt and thighs, are at a health advantage over the apple shaped women. While they may have more difficulty finding “jeans that fit” and they may fight with body image just as much as the apple-shaped woman, they do not have the same health issues to contend with. The fat they carry on their butts and thighs is not necessarily damaging to their wellbeing.
On the other hand the fat that accumulates around the mid section puts the person at risk for such things as heart disease, diabetes and other health risks. The predicament is that the fat in the middle collects around the internal organs. This prevents their organs and their bodies from optimal function. Pear-shaped individuals do not have this same problem because none of the internal organs are found in the butt and thighs.
To find out is you are an apple-shape or a pear-shape you will need to compute the ratio of your waist to hips. Divide your waist measurement in inches by your hip measurement in inches. If the resultant ratio is 0.8 or more you are shaped like an apple, but if it is more than 0.8 or less then you are shaped like a pear. An instance would be a 28-inch waist divided by a 38-inch hip gives a ratio of 0.73 or a pear-shape while that same hip measurement combined with a 32-inch waist is a 0.84 or an apple shape.
Both shapes may have body image issues but the reality is that the pear-shapes are not really facing grave health risks. If you are shaped like an apple it is imperative that you do what you can to release the excess fat. Step up your cardio exercise and make sure that you are eating a fiber-rich diet consisting of more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and legumes and include lean protein sources like fish and skinless chicken.
When it comes to weight loss an apple shaped individual does have an benefit because weight that accumulates in the abdominal region comes off faster than the fat that accumulates in the butt and thighs. Butt and thigh fat is quite stubborn and it will take much more struggle to get it to finally come off.
The type of body that you have is not something that you can control but you can do whatever is needed to lose the excess fat or even better, of course, is to not gain it in the first place.

When assessing weight problems, the medical profession refer to our Body Mass Index. A healthy index is anywhere between eighteen and a half and twenty five. If it’s any higher, then we’re too heavy for our height. Furthermore we’re defined as obese and morbidly obese respectively if we rise above first thirty and then forty.
To work out your own index – Use a metric rule to measure your height. Then record your weight in kilograms. Your height should be multiplied by itself, then divide that figure by your weight.
For instance – say you’re 1.55 metres tall and you weigh 78 kilos, your index would be 32.5. Clearly that result shows some different eating and exercise habits are needed, as a figure over 30 is categorised as obese.
If we persist with eating fatty and sugary calorie-laden food, we’ll never get a grip on our weight management. We can lower our fat reserves (and therefore our weight) if we trim down our portion sizes and stick to more natural foodstuffs.
Don’t be tempted by miracle diets that promise massive weight loss in no time at all. This rules out anything that suggests you consume less than twelve hundred calories in 24 hours. Such ‘instant remedies’ may produce some results, but it’s likely the weight will flood back on.
Long-term weight reduction takes time. But if you just knocked 500 cals off your current daily intake, the results would start to show over time. So not the un-realistic promises fed to you from the instant remedy brigade, but a real solution to help you stay out of the danger zones.
Fat-laden food tends to contain the highest calories. So the easiest way to drop the calories is by cutting out fatty food. Instead, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, and increase the amount of whole grains in your diet. You’ll soon start to notice the health benefits associated with this change.
It’s not worth saving calories up for two meals a day. You’re likely to get too hungry, and then grab a calorie-rich snack! Really, you’ll do yourself more favours if you have four or five little meals spread throughout the day. It’s more difficult to get the weight off when you feel half-starved. The body metabolises more when it receives frequent healthy portions of food. This leads to an efficient system of weight loss.

Weight loss can do some great things for people. That’s why doctors are always telling us we need to lose weight and exercise more. As your body gets into shape you will feel some great benefits to your weight loss.
First you should choose a workout program and how you will successfully do that program. Meaning will you exercise at home, a gym, or maybe even a boot camp. All of these are viable options when it comes to weight loss. Picking which one is best for you will be the real decision.
Don’t forget you also have an option of using a personal trainer to help out in your weight loss. With a great personal trainer you will be motivated harder and you will notice results when you want to lose weight fast.
Start your search by looking at several of each choice that is located near you. Losing weight is something that will not happen overnight, so you will have time to look around. It’s never a great idea to pick the first one you look into either. It can leave you with a membership at a place that you hate and can’t get out of for a year.
At times when you consider a gym, they may along with your membership include the services of a personal trainer. This option if it is a good price should also be thought through carefully. Though these offers will sometimes only be for a few sessions, and then if you want to continue you will need to pay the personal trainer separately. But at a cost of $30 to $70 for an hour session in most cases, you will now need to figure that into the cost of the gym membership.
As stated above you can look at diet pills to help lose weight, but just taking a pill will not get you those fast lose weight results you were hoping for. In order for you to lose weight you will need to still eat right and exercise.
When you look at how to lose weight quickly one of the best options would be a boot camp. With an intensive workout and a personal trainer pushing you, this option will see results quickly. In these four to six week programs you will have a thorough workout and your body will love you for it. Building lean muscle mass in your body, and giving you more energy than you’ve had in a while are only two of the benefits of this weight loss program. Though the cost in many cases is going to be a lot more than a gym membership.
In closing, when you want to lose weight you should look at many different ways. Don’t limit yourself to only one choice. Compare the cost and whether you will actually be able to afford it. Pick a program that will not only help you lose weight, but one that you will be committed to doing. A workout program will only work to help you if you put your all into it.

Many people also forget that important changes come from within. This means starting off with a clear mind, so that you not only know what the end of the journey looks like, but are able to plan a route more effectively. This means a route with a reduced risk of encountering hardships along the way.
Think of it this way, if you got onto a plane in New York and were flying to Great Britain wouldn’t you want that the pilot to have a flight plan (map) and a clearly planned digital route (another map) before they took the plane thousands of feet into the air?
When desiring to make definitive changes in your life, you’ll discover that traditional ways of setting goals are just not sufficient. Think back to the times you may have sat down with a pen and paper, or sat in front of your computer, and typed up a list of objetives which you felt were important at that particular time in your life.
This process may have taken you a while as you mulled over what you actually wanted to do you may even have put your proyects in order of priority. You might have deliberated for some time over how you could achieve your goals, but then when you had finished making your list and re-read it once, you just it filed away out of sight away from possible future reference? Why hide the future from yourself?
In a lecture I had, a professor once said that one of the greatest problems people had in completing projects was getting ready to get ready. At some point, you make a plan and then you act on it. Its not the plan that’s the problem, the problem is in the plans execution.
If you are completely honest with yourself, how many times did your list get used for reference purposes? How many times did it even see the light of day?
How long after you got knocked about, when something bad happened, and then forgot all about what you really wanted out of life?
Even more importantly, did you deliberately focus on each goal until you could almost see it, touch it and sense it? Probably not.
Most of us have great intentions to better ourselves. We all wish to self-motivate, improve our self-discipline, and have a stronger sense of purpose.
We would all like to increase that vital sense of drive and passion for life. That would make it so much easiid ier for us to achieve our aims, and the simple reality is that we can!

Milk is around 80% casein and around 20% whey protein. Whey protein is one of the leading dietary supplements for weight loss and muscle growth, and when concentrated, is very effective.
Whey protein, if its pure, will be free of most of the causes of milk allergies, as most of these are contained in the casein that is extracted during the purification process. Whey protein therefore can be a good dietary option for people with these kinds of allergies, however whey isn’t necessarily suitable for people who are completely lactose intolerant.
So we all know that whey protein can provide invaluable assistance when it comes to losing weight or gaining muscle, but is there such a thing as too much whey? Of course there is, but how much is too much? What are the side effects? Well, a lot of doctors would urge caution when using protein supplements because there are some unpleasant side effects, one is particularly not nice.
In fact, one of the most ironic things about whey protein is that your dieting and muscle building can result in you not being able to work out any more at all. If you develop gout, then this could be a risk you face.
Gout is a result of excess protein in your body that the body cant do anything with so it settles on your joints, muscles and tendons in your legs and feet (usually in your big toes first) as crystals of uric acid that cause joints to be stiff, brittle and painful.
Too much protein is also one of the main causes of kidney and liver damage, kidney stones are not uncommon in very high protein diets, but as long as common sense and patience are applied and you don’t go overboard with your supplements, then you should be alright. The right amount to take varies from person to person and the main deciding factor for the right amount to take is body mass. I recommend consulting with your doctor before you start out on supplements as he/she will be able to guide you as to the right amount to use based on your body mass.
So whey protein, we can conclude, is an effective source of protein for your body to lose unwanted fat or gain some lean muscle, but you should always do all the research you can before you start using supplements of any kind to make sure you wont be troubled by unwanted side-effects.

Whey Protein comes from milk and makes up around 20% of its protein. The other 80% is called casein which is an ingredient in some other protein supplements. The whey must undergo several isolation processes to separate it from the milk itself.

People develop gout when there is a build up of excess protein that crystallises itself as uric acid and settles usually in the joints of your big toes to start with, and then as the condition worsens it will spread up your feet and legs until all of the muscles, tendons and joints in them are stiff and painful to the point where you almost cant move them.
Too much protein is also one of the main causes of kidney and liver damage, kidney stones are not uncommon in very high protein diets, but as long as common sense and patience are applied and you don’t go overboard with your supplements, then you should be alright. So overall, using whey protein is an effective way of shedding unwanted fat, or gaining lean muscle, but its worth doing the research before hand to ensure that you don’t experience any undesired effects.

A good looking body is something that we all want, even if we wont admit it, but for those of us who are overweight or even underweight, it can be a challenge to even get started. Regular gym visits make very slow progress and when its hard to keep doing something that requires effort when you dont even see results.
People that feel they are too thin can have a frustrating time at the gym as everyone there seems to be bigger and you seem to be making no progress at all.
Overweight people have an even more of an ordeal to go through at the gym as it is far more difficult to lose weight than it is to gain weight, but surely there is a way to speed the process along?
Things like dieting supplements and protein shakes are things that we have all heard of, but probably dont know much about. A lot of people question whether they work or not, whether they will have side effects etc. and rightly so. The answer is; if theyre used properly, then they can work wonders for your body, but otherwise, the chances are they will not do much.
For the underweight people who are looking to gain some muscle, carbohydrates and whey protein supplements would be perfect. They will naturally help your muscles grow at a faster rate as long as you keep working out as well!
This will start to make a highly noticeable difference if you are drinking protein shakes as instructed by the particular brand you use. This is because the Whey protein that they usually contain (from experience Whey tends to be more effective than Creatine) can easily be turned into muscle by your body. However it will need an incentive to do so, i.e. regular pumping of the muscles so that they need to be repaired.
Unfortunately there is quite a bit more effort involved if you are overweight. The reason for this is that you cant turn fat cells straight into muscle, you have to burn the fat cells off first, then build muscle in its place. A supplement containing Sida Cordifolia would be ideal for this as it improves your metabolic rate, increasing the energy you used when doing anything, meaning fat cells burn off much quicker.
If you take this step to lose weight followed by the previously mentioned muscle gain steps, then realistically youre probably looking at around 8-10 months before your body starts taking shape, but if throughout this period you are active, with regular workouts and exercise, you could not only shorten that time frame, but you will end up fitter, healthier and generally felling better than you have in a long time.

Detoxification and cleansing programs are becoming very widespread as folks are attempting to improve their physical condition and lose weight. Often a good detoxification program can be an useful way to commence a healthy weight loss program.
While detoxification programs are extensively used there are not any scientific studies that demonstrate the efficacy of a detox/cleansing program. However, there are visible benefits, one of the foremost being the fact that after a good cleansing your preference for fatty, unwholesome foods dissipates and you are more likely to stick with a wholesome program.
Detoxification is as a rule thought of as a treatment for an addiction to drugs or alcohol. It is intended to remove the physiological effects of the addictive substances, but the holistic meaning of detoxification is to eliminate any poisonous or toxic substances from the human body. Cleansing is the elimination of these toxic or harmful substances from the body in as natural a manner as feasible. There have been a number of different methods for detoxification and cleansing practiced all over the planet for centuries.
In past history the want for detoxification and cleansing was not near as crucial as it is these days because of the straightforward fact that people’s diets were more unprocessed and unrefined and the toxins in the natural world were less. The fact is that much of the food that we consume has fewer nutrients currently than in the past owing to soil depletion and numerous agricultural methods.
Supplements of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and herbs can be constructive to achieving and maintaining good health but they are not valuable to the removal of toxins from our bodies. In actuality there are some that worsen the problem particularly the fat soluble ones. Consuming a beneficial, nutritious, less toxic and mostly natural diet is the best answer to a wholesome way of life and often a good detox and cleansing program can get a new program started in an successful way.
A healthy, nutritious and mostly organic diet is the best way to great health and a strong immune system. A nontoxic diet will consist of very basic yet nutritious and balanced food choices. Folks who would like to start eating a less toxic diet should think about eating organic foods; counting fruits, vegetables, whole grains as well as seeds and nuts. Low fat organic dairy products, organic poultry and certain types of fresh fish can be eaten in moderation as well.
Filtered water and doing all of your food preparation in only glass, iron, stainless steel and porcelain bake ware is also beneficial. Keep away from all caffeine, nicotine and any drugs plus over the counter medications. Have a wide assortment of diverse foods in order to provide the optimum sustenance that you body needs.
A wholesome weight loss regimen can benefit from a good detoxification and cleansing program but continue to eat a wholesome and nutritious diet as a way of life choice in order to uphold the overall good health that you wish for.

Strength training is an important element of fitness and exercise. If you are trying to lose weight then it is essential that you incorporate some strength training activities into your routine. Losing weight is about burning calories. It is about burning fat and one way to do that is to build your muscles. Basically the more muscle you develop the more energy you burn, resulting in greater weight loss success.
Strength training does not have to be a daily grind of lifting weights in the gym. There are many classes or exercise programs you can follow that will help with building your muscles. Most gyms have classes like total body fitness or group power lifting. Typically these types of classes use many types of weight training equipment including barbells, hand weights and resistance bands. The typical class lasts for about an hour.
Over all it seems to be women seem to enjoy these types of strength training classes more than men. Men typically enjoy working out the muscle groups by adding bulk. Strength training classes help to shape and tone your muscles into lean mass without the bulk. In addition, since the instructor pushes you along during the class at a very rapid pace, there is a bit of cardiovascular benefit as well. If your goal is to have both strength training as well as muscle endurance, then you should consider a “cross fit” type class that can focus on both of those areas. Keep in mind that those types of classes not only build strength…but they melt away the love handles much faster.
So you do not care for classes. Thats ok, there are many exercises that you can do from home using just simple hand weights will do just fine, and there are many strength exercises that require no equipment like the simple pushup. Find a DVD to follow along to help you with your exercise. A good program to follow will help keep you on track, motivated and more likely to do the exercises correctly.
Many people go to the gym to lift weights. Typical regimens include alternating days of upper body work with lower body work. For example, on Monday and Thursday you might work your upper body, while on Tuesday and Friday you might work your lower body. This gives the muscles time to repair and grow between workouts. Most weight lifting programs involve lifting in sets. For instance you might do three sets of ten repetitions of the exercise of your choice that has a focus on the target are you wish to improve on.

by Barbara Vinciguerra, MS, Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach, Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist
Fitness and weight loss expert, Barbara Vinciguerra shares some of the most common mistakes that people make when trying to lose weight. Stop wasting your time and start getting results now by eliminating these 5 weight loss mistakes.
Mistake #1 – “Using Diets To Lose Weight”
Are you a member of a club? Just look around on a Monday night and what area of your club is the busiest? We can guarantee it is the Cardio Section or the Cardio Classes. Let us tell you Cardio IS NOT THE WAY to go if you want to lose FAT! Well not all types of cardio but long, slow and very boring cardio is absolutely, positively not the way. Not only has research proved that interval training is the ultimate cardio for fat loss success, but the risk of over use injuries related to long cardio is extremely high.
Mistake #2 – “Doing Crunches To Try To Get Six Pack Abs”
Are you one of those that has tried every diet out there? Maybe you initially got some results but have since either gained back the weight or even MORE? Why did you gain that weight back and why are you following that diet or some diet again? Because somewhere in the back of your mind your “remember” when you went on that diet and lost all that weight – and your mind tells you to “go back on it again”. Well if it really worked – you wouldn’t need to “go back on it again”.
Mistake #3 – “Doing Crunches To Try To Get Six Pack Abs”
Again, if you are a member of a club and your club offers “abs classes” I guarantee that these classes are absolutely jam packed. Every single piece of research out there has shown that you can’t get a six pack by doing endless crunches. Actually, doing endless amount of core exercises won’t even get you that six pack. Interval training and Metabolic Conditioning Exercises have been PROVEN to burn belly fat faster then any other fat loss methods.
Mistake #4- “Light Weight, Hip Rep Schemes Work For Fat Loss”
Are you a member of a club? Just look around on a Monday night and what area of your club is the busiest? We can guarantee it is the Cardio Section or the Cardio Classes. Let us tell you Cardio IS NOT THE WAY to go if you want to lose FAT! Well not all types of cardio but long, slow and very boring cardio is absolutely, positively not the way. Not only has research proved that interval training is the ultimate cardio for fat loss success, but the risk of over use injuries related to long cardio is extremely high.
Mistake #5- “Light Weight, Hip Rep Schemes Work For Fat Loss”
MORE IS NOT BETTER. Get this in your head. Your program should be all about QUALITY OF EFFORT NOT QUANTITY. First of all, it’s just ridiculous to spend countless hours exercising thinking that it is going to help you lose weight and second of all, what you are doing is laying down the foundation to increase your risk of overtraining, injury and burnout.
