Reduce Man Boobs Without Surgery

In Greek ‘Gyne means woman and ‘mastos’ means breast, and so the technical term for extra breast tissue on the chest in males is known as gyencosmastia. Ancient Greek aside, it is commonly known as man boobs. Though there are a number of reasons why man boobs can form, the primary two are hormonal imbalances and excess fatty tissue, most common in obese and overweight men.

There are natural hormone imbalances in times like adolescence. Sometimes adolescent boys will notice small lumps under or near their nipples and buddy breasts appear, but this usually goes away with the passage of time. Overweight boys are more susceptible but even active fit youngsters can experience breast development. There are generally no associated health risks for adolescent man boobs except the social stigma often associated with the condition. Having man boobs as a teenager can often be very embarrassing and cause boys to shy away from sports and activities like swimming.

Gynecomastia may also come from taking certain medications, from excessive beer drinking and alcohol intake, from marijuana and methamphetamines as well as underlying illnesses like liver disease and even some cancers.

One source of man boobs has been causing somewhat of an epidemic and creates man boobs that are far more persistent and permanent, sometime leaving surgery as the only option to remove the male breasts. Anabolic steroid use is a major and increasing cause of gynecomastia. Because steroids have such a profound effect on the hormones in your body, they have a far more drastic and fast development of man boobs than natural hormonal problems. Man boobs that are resultant of steroid use are also more stubborn and if left untreated may actually develop into permanent tissue which can only really be removed by risky (not to mention hard on the hip pocket) male mamoplasty, which is not a great option for any man.

Now that’s not exactly the image that someone taking steroids would want to achieve.

After ceasing steroid use it can still take quite a while for the body to start its testosterone production and in many cases even after hormones are back to normal the breast do budge. Man boobs from other causes are easy to deal with compared to man boobs that come from steroid use.

Of course the best solution is to avoid steroids at all costs, as the other associated risks like shrunken testicles are no more pleasant than flabby man boobs. For those who insist on taking steroids there are drugs available to block estrogen levels in the body and they can help stop man boobs forming. The effects of estrogen blockers are not fully known, so despite the fact they are taken by many bodybuilders, they may have hidden effects potentially more unsettling than man boobs.

How To Gain Lean Muscle – A Beginner’s Guide

In most cases, having someone around can motivate you to pursue your dream.
