How To Reduce The Size Of Your Arms By Burning Fat

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Too many women break their backs losing weight only to see no reduction in arm fat. Some women don’t break their backs at all and see a substantial reduction in arm fat. What makes the latter more successful?

There are various things that need to be manipulated in order for the arm flab to come off at an accelerated rate. This article will focus on exercise, nutrition, supplementation and advanced techniques.

If you follow my tips, there is no doubt in my mind that your results will be greatly enhanced. The key is to take action quickly. Don’t wait around for something to happen because it never does!

I’ve advised countless clients on how to lose arm fat with accelerated techniques. So without further ado, here are 4 rules to follow for rapid arm fat reduction:

1. Mix and match from 4 food groups. All your meals should have a vegetable, protein, fat and carbohydrate source in them. This is the best way to handle your nutrition. And make sure to keep saturated fat intake low as it messes up carbohydrate metabolism. If you want the fastest results possible only eat legumes (i.e., beans) as your carbohydrate source.

2. Practice carbohydrate depletion and repletion on a regular basis. The concept is simple: on the days you workout, maintain carbohydrate intake levels. On the days you don’t workout, decrease carbohydrate intake. This cyclical carbohydrate consumption will melt the arm fat away like nothing you’ve experienced before.

3. Exercise all the muscle fibers in your arm. High repetition, light weight workouts are a thing of the past. You absolutely have to use heavy weights to get toned arms. Fall short here, and you will not be able to target the whole spectrum of muscle fibers in your arms.

4. Drink a meal in liquid form immediately after your workout. You only have 20 minutes before the opportunity disappears. You see, immediately after your workout little transporters migrate towards the surface of your muscle cells. This provides a transient opportunity to get a “controlled” amount of nutrients into your arms to accelerate the arm-toning process.

With the above rules in mind, I’m sure you can accelerate your arm toning results. The key is to act on this information NOW instead of letting sit in your brain. Those women with the highest speeds of implementation are the most successful. It’s time for you to get sexy arms!

Having said that, one of the above pointers may not work out for you. And that’s fine because each metabolism is different. Just make sure to keep on experimenting!

6 Pointers For Losing Loose Arm Fat

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Extreme dietary restriction when learning how to lose arm fat is cardinal sin number one. Despite all the “don’t starve yourself” and “eat six meals a day” advice, many women are STILL dieting the dirty way. And most women simply do not know how to change their eating patterns in a healthy and sustainable fashion.

In reality, many of the dirty dieting tactics set women up for devastating failure. Learning how to lose arm fat the right way shouldn’t be so painful. Here are 6 must do’s so that you don’t end up hitting a brick wall:

1. Don’t obsess over burning more calories than you take in. We’re all busy and don’t have all day to exercise or learn how to lose arm fat. You do not need to do both cardiovascular work and weight training to get rid of your flabby arms. All you need is a short (45 minutes or less) and intense weight training workout that will keep you burning an excess of calories days after.

2. Throw away your food journal. Actually, if you have a food journal feel free to burn it while chanting a victory song. On the surface, the concept of keeping a journal may seem like a good idea, but eventually it will make you feel like a slave.

3. Balance your meals. No need to get crazy with your eating (please don’t take acai!). Your number one priority is to make sure your meals have a vegetable, fat, protein and carbohydrate item. Trust me, this is all you have to do.

4. Forget about counting calories. Even worse than the food log, because now instead of pulling out your hair, you’ll want to jump off a cliff. The whole calorie counting mumbo jumbo is based on an outdated closed thermodynamic model. In other words, the flawed idea that a 3500 caloric deficit produces 1 lb. of fat loss.

5. Keep consuming your guilty pleasures. All you have to do here is reduce the size of your guilty pleasure and accompany it with a fibrous serving of vegetables. Do both of these and the negative impact of your guilty food will be greatly reduced, if not eliminated.

6. Limit alcohol to one serving a day. Despite the common knowledge that too much alcohol is bad for you, too many of my female clients load up on bottomless bottles of wine. Do this, and not only will you get a surplus of calories going to your arm fat, but you’ll also shut down the fat-burning hormones in your body.

Learning how to lose arm fat the right way should be a lot easier with my eat-right tips. Follow them, and the arm flab will come right off. It’s not as hard as you think.

Finally, I would like to mention that you shouldn’t get discouraged if you stray from your diet. You see, it is impossible to eat perfectly all the time. Even the best dieters cheat. But the main difference is that they get back on track much faster than the average person.

The Sugar Addiction Test

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009
by Katherine Crawford M.S.

If you eat lots of sugar and you want to get rid of arm fat, you’re in for a very tough ride. Unfortunately, a high sugar intake will make your insulin levels sky rocket. And high insulin will block your body from burning arm fat.

Perhaps you think you may be addicted, but aren’t sure. After all, many people are addicted to many things they aren’t even aware of. Thus, a little introspection is required. Think about the following questions to help figure out if you’re addicted:

1. Does it seem impossible to stop having sugar? Do you keep on consuming large amounts of sugar despite the best of efforts to stop? If so, you may be addicted. At this stage, it’s very common for the brain to have undergone some changes that make rejecting sugar extremely difficult.

2. Do you feel horrible when you don’t have sugar? This is called withdrawal! If your head hurts, if you get extremely vivid cravings and if your mood goes up and down in the absence of sugar You are withdrawing

3. Have you developed the ability to generate complex reasons as to why you are NOT addicted? If you consistently come up with detailed arguments in defense of not being addicted, then you may be addicted. This is denial at its max.

4. Can you ignore the risks? If you can ignore the risks of continual sugar consumption despite having a serious health issue, then we have some serious work to do. Having excessive amounts of sugar is NOT healthy, and you need to accept this.

5. Do you use sugar to compensate for other negative aspects of life? Are you in a bad or abusive relationship? Are you bothered by negative emotions? Do you use sugar to offset the above? If so, you may be addicted.

Are you skeptical that sugar addiction even exists? I can assure you that it does. Extensive studies done on rodents have shown that sugar addiction causes the same cerebral alterations as drug addiction. Moreover, hospitals routinely use sugar as an analgesic when performing surgery on infants (i.e., circumcision).

The main factor here is honesty. Are you addicted? If so, overcoming the addiction will be critical if you want to get rid of arm fat. Otherwise, both your arms and health will suffer. If by now you know you’re addicted, then please seek professional help. There are many methods of therapy that work for a wide variety of people. Don’t give up!

How To Stay Motivated When Losing Arm Fat

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009
by Katherine Crawford M.S.

So many women focus on finding the perfect arm workout, the perfect supplement or the perfect diet. And many times, said women actually burn out before even getting started because they are trying to find that perfect solution.

Unfortunately, perfection, by definition does not exist. And let’s suppose for a second that the perfect program did in fact exist. Do you have the willpower to stick with it week in and week out, month in and month out?

If you didn’t have some type of mental framework in place, this would be very hard. It’s not easy for us to stick with something for extended periods of time. If it were, we would all be ultra successful.

So what’s the answer to this problem? Again, there is no best answer here. Mainly because our psychological makeup is so complex. And answering this question within the space of an article is beyond my abilities! Nonetheless, there are some tactics you can use to win the flabby arm war:

1. Visualize the positive of doing, not the negative of not doing. If you constantly flagellate yourself into taking action, be careful, very careful. This type of technique may be effective in the short run, but in the long run it will eat away at your motivation until your reach a tipping point. Instead, visualize all the positives of taking action to get rid of that arm fat. This way you WANT to get moving, and don’t feel like you HAVE to get moving.

2. Stay objective when you fail. Every time you fail, imagine that you are scientist in a lab. Never let your emotions tear you apart. NEVER. Instead of internalizing the hiccup, analyze the EXTERNAL factors that led to the misbehavior. This approach will keep your willpower nice and strong.

3. Understand that motivation isn’t instantaneous. Nobody has oodles and oodles of motivation on demand. Many times, even the most successful people have to start moving regardless of how they feel in order to get motivated. If you feel like doing nothing one day, and this will happen, simply start going through the motions!

4. Never let criticism get you angry. There are extremely critical people in this world that have no issue with vocalizing their every thought. Do not let said critics destroy your flabby arm resolve. Instead, deconstruct the criticism and define every element in it. Once you define the elements, most criticisms are found to be baseless.

Nothing in life is both rapid and easy. The faster results come with more effort. In any case, most flabby arm failures are directly related to an inability for sustaining long term motivation. Anybody can start the arm fat race, but few can finish. So make sure you implement these effective strategies TODAY!

4 Ways To Overcome Sugar Addiction-For Maximum Arm Toning

Saturday, July 11th, 2009
by Katherine Crawford M.S.

Sugar addiction exists, trust me. And it’s in your best interest to avoid it at all costs if you want to maximize your arm toning. Beating ANY addiction is no walk in the park, but you can do it.

How do we know that sugar addiction exists? First, sugar acts as a powerful painkiller in newborns. Second, rodents demonstrate alterations in dopamine receptors when given high intakes of sugar. The same type of alterations you see with drugs. Third, naxolone-a drug used to combat drug addictions-temporarily mitigates sugar addictions.

So let me ask you the million dollar question, do you think you are addicted to sugar? There are two effective ways for determining this. First, is your emotional state dependent on your sugar intake. Second, are you coming up with complex and detailed reasons as to why you are NOT addicted as you read this paragraph? Be brutally honest with yourself

The main issue with sugar, is that it prevents your body from secreting arm fat burning hormones. And without said hormones, your arms will never get toned. Period. So without further ado, here are 4 things you can start doing today to kick that addiction out the window:

1. Start using sugar substitutes. Although they won’t give you an energy high, sugar substitutes will definitely appease your sweet tooth. And they don’t taste like they used to. Remember that strange aftertaste diet sodas used to have? Stevia, an all natural herbal substitute, is my top choice.

2. Loose leaf yerba mate taragui. More popular than coffee in south America, yerba mate is the most powerful craving killer I have ever found. Just make sure you keep on eating even though you aren’t hungry. This will prevent you from bingeing once the effect wears off. And be patient because it takes about an hour for the tea to take full effect.

3. Lifting weights. How is lifting weights related to sugar cravings? Because it increases your hunger a lot. How does increased hunger help fight a sugar addiction? The type of increased hunger you get from intense weight lifting readjusts your palate and makes average-tasting foods much more palatable.

4. Cognitive therapy: hands down the best method I’ve found for modifying emotional behaviors, cognitive therapy is a form of psychological treatment that has been proven time and again by peer reviewed research. The best do-it-yourself resource? Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy by David Burns M.D. Unlike most self-help books and motivational speakers, this book will show you how to change your emotions for the long haul.

Overcoming sugar addiction is no walk in the park. And there are a lot of forces working against you. Especially, the food industry. But if you want to maximize your arm toning, you have to tackle this monster head on. And remember, there are many tools at your immediate disposal that can help you win the war. The key is to apply this information now and not later. Do not wait, take action!

Flabby Arm Exercises – A Massive Guide

Thursday, June 25th, 2009
by Katherine Crawford M.S.

Who would of ever thought it could be so hard to find the best flabby arm exercises? Well, I struggled with this search for a very long time.

And it wasn’t my fault. You see, there is simply too much contradictory and confusing information out there. In fact, a lot of the recommended flabby arm exercises are downright dangerous.

With all the confusion floating around, how are you supposed to know which exercises will give you the fastest results? Unfortunately, you can’t unless you have a reliable source of information. And these days, reliability is hard to come by

As a result, I’ve decided to take this problem head on. I am going to be embarking on an on-going review of all the arm exercises out there. So without further delay, here is today’s review of high pulley curls:

1. Overview snap-shot. Considered somewhat of a specialized exercise, high pulley curls are great at increasing the peak of your biceps. It’s usually used as finishing move for depletion.

2. Technical jump-start. Find a machine with two pulleys that can be adjusted over your head. Stand in between said pulleys and grab both of their handles. Bring both handles in towards your ears. Then return them to the starting position.

3. General mistakes. Preventing the arms from fully extending and contracting in order to use more weight. Using momentum to bring the handles in which reduces the effectiveness of the exercise. And letting the head tilt downward which places stress on the spine.

4. Final word. This exercise is definitely above average. However, there are still more effective exercises out there that will get you faster results.

So that’s it for today’s review of flabby arm exercises. Watch out for my next one. And remember, the best way to reach sexy arm stardom is by learning as much as you can!

Top Exercises For Arm Toning

Sunday, June 21st, 2009
by Katherine Crawford M.S.

Looking for the top arm toning exercises can be harder than finding a needle in a haystack. Seriously. Everybody has a different answer

Unfortunately, the excess of contradictory opinions on the best arm toning exercises can leave you completely stumped. And in some cases, said opinions could leave you injured. No joke.

With all of the different opinions and answers out there, how are you supposed to choose what arm toning exercises to do? This question had me stumped in the earlier part of my flabby arm epic. I wish I had had access to a good resource that would give me the bottom line on all the different arm exercises.

So I have decided to create that resource for you. I will be evaluating as many exercises as I can. Today we will look at hammer curls:

1. Snap-shot. An often overlooked exercise, hammer curls, work the outside part of your biceps. Most importantly, however, they really work your forearms.

2. Technique jump-start: Grasp a pair of dumbbells, keep your palms facing each other and stand straight up. Raise both dumbbells until they are slightly below shoulder height. Then lower them.

3. Common mistakes: Letting the back hunch which compromises your posture. And not keeping the palms of the hands fixed in place which reduces the effectiveness of the exercise.

4. To do or not to do: If you want toned arms ASAP and if you want to get rid of arm flab ASAP, then you shouldn’t do this exercise. It simply places too much emphasis on the forearms and not the upper arms. Your time is much better spent doing exercises that target your upper arm area. The area where the jiggle lives

After reading some of my reviews, you’ll get a better idea as to what arm toning exercises are worth doing. So make sure you don’t miss my next one!

3 Flabby Arms Delusions to Avoid

Sunday, June 21st, 2009
by Katherine Crawford M.S.

It can be nearly impossible to get rid of flabby arms if you’re not using the right approach. And most women do NOT know what the right approach is. But you’re not to blame.

Do an internet search for “flabby arms”, and you’ll be inundated with misinformation from sources out to make a fast buck. So many women are stuck in a black hole of conflicting information that they eventually give up. Some sources go as far to claim that organisms living in your stomach are to blame for arm fat.

The good news for you is that I’ve spent a large portion of my academic and professional career figuring out the best way to get sexy arms. And the conclusion is that getting rid of arm fat is not nearly as hard as many would lead you to believe. In fact, with the right approach it can be a fairly simple process.

The bright side is that losing arm flab doesn’t have to be that hard. In fact, I have spent a large portion of my life figuring out what works and what doesn’t work. Here are 3 common misconceptions you HAVE to be aware of:

1. Long bouts of cardio are great for toned arms. Long sessions of cardio will signal the release of cortisol from glands in your body. Over time, this hormone will eat away your precious muscle and your body will burn fewer and fewer calories. Eventually, you will NOT be able to burn any arm fat no matter how hard you exercise or diet.

2. Genetic Makeup. Doing arm-specific exercises and eating certain foods will control how your arms look, not genetics. Genetics influence the general structure of your arms to a very limited degree. In other words, you can change the composition of your arms at the structural level no matter what genes you may have inherited.

3. Dietary fat should be eliminated because its high calorie. Do this, and your arm-toning hormones will almost completely shut down. To make matters worse, your speed of meal digestion will sky rocket. A fast meal digestion will cause your body to store an excess of arm fat.

Hopefully, you haven’t been buying into any of these myths.

Alright, now you have 3 misconceptions to avoid on your journey towards flabby arms freedom. Just because other women are doing the above, doesn’t mean you should blindly follow. Get rid of arm flab the smart way, not the hard way!

Arm Tone – With The Mind

Saturday, June 6th, 2009
by Katherine Crawford M.S.

Getting arm tone took me a very very long time. Thus, arm fat haunted me for a large portion of my life.

The most frustrating part of the whole arm tone process was ever-changing levels of motivation. No matter how hard I tried, I could not maintain a high level of focus and desire for extended periods of time.

At times I would feel so unmotivated that I would simply ditch the whole effort all together. How did I pat myself on the back? With cookies galore!

One day I had a wake-up call and realized that if I couldn’t figure out a way to stick with a program for the long run, I would never be able to get sexy arms. And I also knew that this motivational “yo yoing” wasn’t sustainable.

So I searched high and low for a method that would allow me to stay motivated indefinitely. And I’m happy to say that I found said method. It was created by David Burns M.D. In my opinion it’s the best thought modification system out there. Central to his method is the elimination of cognitive (thought) distortions.

So here are 3 thought distortions you need to avoid today so that you can have motivation tomorrow:

1. Black and white distortions. If you are a perfectionist, you most likely suffer from these distortions. If you have to do something perfectly or not at all, then you see things as black and white. Ironically, if you ignore perfectionism and lower your standards you’ll get better results.

2. Over generalizing distortions. This one is based on the faulty assumption that if something happened to you in the past it will keep on happening again and again in the future. You may tell yourself, for instance, that since you haven’t been able to lose weight in the past you will never be able to lose weight in the future and every program out there simply won’t work for you. Yet nothing could be further from the truth.

3. Mental filtering distortions. Make sure to always give yourself credit for the smallest of achievements. With this distortion you hardly focus on the positive and prefer to focus on the negative. If you have a test, for instance, and get 99 questions right and 1 wrong, you focus on the one you got wrong!

If you do not avoid the above cognitive distortions, arm tone will keep on eluding you. You have to achieve constant and lasting motivation in order to stick with an arm toning program. With the above tips in mind you are now one step closer to sexy arm success!

Flabby Arm Metabolism 101

Saturday, June 6th, 2009
by Katherine Crawford M.S.

If you can master your metabolism, your flabby arm nightmare will go away. Increasing your metabolism is the most efficient way of eliminating the arm jiggle.

And don’t get intimidated by the term metabolism. It simply refers to the amount of calories your body burns for basic functions.

So a faster metabolism translates into more calories burned, even while you sleep. Thus, increasing your metabolism is a great way to enhance arm fat burning around the clock.

Without further ado, here are some great ways to fire up your metabolism:

1. Ditch bagged tea and drink loose leaf tea. Most women know that green tea is touted as a fat burner. What most women don’t know is that bagged green tea is far inferior in comparison to loose leaf green tea. I always have a tablespoon of steeped loose leaf green tea every single morning of every single day. Dragon Well Green Tea by Prince of Peace has been the absolute best I have found thus far.

2. Get a bare minimum of 7 hours sleep. A lack of sleep will compromise the amount of muscle you gain from working out. And muscle is the number one thing that will fire up your metabolism. A lack of sleep will also alter the way your body processes carbohydrates. Make sure you get your sleep!

3. Have caffeine pills. Disclaimer: caffeine pills aren’t for everybody. I personally hate them. However, some of my colleagues can take them all day and never break a sweat. The key here is to start with the lowest dose possible and gradually work your way up. These are definitely optional.

4. Eat spices and chile. I know this may sound like a stretch, but over the long run if you eat hot food consistently it will increase your metabolism. Now don’t expect a giant increase. But anything helps with flabby arm annihilation!

Metabolic mastery is one of the primary keys for getting rid of your flabby arm nightmare. Please make sure you increase water intake accordingly to compensate for your higher metabolism. Follow these tips and you will reach sexy arm stardom!
