Looking At The Benefits Of Fat Loss
Looking better and fitting into smaller clothes is one motivation for fat loss. But it isn’t the most important. There are many heath reasons to lose weight that are more important.
Dropping fat reduces the risks of heart disease which can cause heart attacks and strokes. One of the main contributors to heart disease is high blood pressure. High blood pressure is more common in people who are overweight because the heart has to work harder. Even lowering blood pressure just a little will have huge benefits.
Also, the amount of triglycerides (fat deposits in the blood) is higher in overweight people. Good cholesterol (HDL) drops and bad cholesterol (LDL) goes up. Now the body is more prone to clogged arteries and even further risk of heart attacks or strokes.
Another problem with arteries that are clogged is poor circulation. Which bad circulation, oxygen is not carried properly throughout the body and all its organs. The brain, for example, will not get good amounts of oxygen. Alas, this may cause mood swings, sleep disorders and poor concentration.
Due to the way the body breaks down food, overweight folks are more likely to develop diabetes. A high blood sugar level is dangerous. Obesity has been shown to increase sugar levels.
Studies have indicated that obesity and being overweight dramatically increases the chances for various types of cancer. Colon, kidney, and prostate cancers are more common in those who have gained significant amounts of weight. Post-menstrual breast cancer is also higher among heavier women.
Luckily, even the littlest weight loss creates huge health improvements. This, of course will feed on itself. In other words, once you lose just 5 pounds of fat, you will be able to exercise a little more than before. And as you exercise more, you lose more weight!
And of course, let’s go back to the original reason for wanting to lose fat. Looking better and fitting into a smaller size will make you feel better about yourself. Higher self-esteem really does wonders for promoting a healthy life style and for simply improving health in general. So get on out there start and exercising. Don’t try to do too much at first. Just the smallest increase in activity will help you lose weight. As soon as you lose a few pounds you will be able to do more.
Results will keep you motivated with your goal of fat loss. You can also keep yourself on track but giving yourself rewards for hitting milestones. Set goals within reach so you don’t get discouraged. A good treat would be a new pair of (smaller!) pants. You will feel better and more importantly, you will be healthier.
